AUGUST BLACK BELT GRADING

Saturday, 2nd August was a big day for Yoseikan-Ryu Karate—and especially for the three students who stepped up to attempt their black belt. Black belt grading is not for the faint-hearted. It tests not only skill, but resilience, discipline, and heart.

At the beginning of the day, three participants were on the floor. By the end, only one had met the demanding standard.

Congratulations to Arvin Manjur on achieving his black belt! Arvin began his karate journey on 14th February 2018—a six-year commitment marked by perseverance and dedication.

A sincere thank you to the grading panel: Jessica Johnson, Adrian Koelewyn, Art Comiskey, and Rudi James, who is also Arvin’s personal instructor.

We also extend our appreciation to all the students who participated in the kumite rounds. Black belt candidates are required to spar with multiple partners, and your presence is an essential part of this rigorous process.

To all students aspiring to wear the black belt one day—remember, the journey is earned through consistent effort, resilience, and respect for the process.
