Learning martial arts at Yoseikan-Ryu Karate is life transforming! This is done through driving children and adults whether male or female, to achieve their complete potential. Not just in the art of karate or in their physical aspects, but also in critical life skills such as discipline, focus, self-confidence, self-defense and much more. Yoseikan-Ryu karate runs classes for men, women and children of all ages and levels of ability at the Liverpool Whitlam Leisure Centre.

Yoseikan-Ryu Karate (養正館流空手 – literally “House of Honesty and Education”),  is the name given to the variant of Shotokan Karate taught at the Yoseikan Dojo in Shizuoka, Japan, under the direction of Minoru Mochizuki (望月 稔 Mōchizuki Minoru, 1907–2003).

Minoru Mochizuki trained directly under Gichin Funakoshi, the man who formally introduced Karate to the Japanese mainland in 1921. In the 1970s, Minoru Mochizuki formally organised his arts into Yoseikan Budo.

Our style stems back to the early 1900’s involving many different styles of martial arts including; karate, aikido, judo, Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto-ryu, jujutsu, kobudo, iaido, kendo, jojutsu, and kempo.

We also extended the style and included self defence suited to our day and age.

The Chief Instructor for Yoseikan in Australia is Branco Bratich, 9th Dan. Branco, who, with the assistance of his senior instructors, has built Yoseikan-Ryu Karate into an Australia-wide organisation. Branco opened his first club at the Girrawheen Recreation Centre in Perth in 1978.

I enrolled my daughter in karate to help her build confidence, discipline, safety, awareness and determination. I can honestly say that YOSEKIAN- RYU KARATE is the best thing I have ever invested for my daughter. We are extremely pleased with the progress our child has made so far. The structured training and the development provided by the experienced friendly staff has shown all round improvement in learning life essential skills.
